Staff at Labrums law firm in St. Albans have baked 100 cupcakes and donated them to The Orchard Nursing home to raise awareness for the Alzheimer’s Society.

 The Labrums’ staff spent their evening on Wednesday 12th June baking and decorating cupcakes to donate to the local home which provides residential, nursing and specialist dementia care for up to 63 elderly residents.

The Alzheimer’s Society helps fund pioneering research, crucial support services and initiates new methods care. There are 1,000,000 people in the England living with dementia. It is now the leading cause of death in England and Wales, overtaking both cancer and heart disease.


Labrums Scrummy Cupcake Recipe.

Cupcake Ingredients
175g butter (at room temperature), cut into large chunks – marge will do, but butter is better,
175g self-raising flour
175g caster sugar
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
3 large eggs

Preheat your oven to 180°C.
Line a 12-hole muffin tin with paper cupcake or muffin cases.
Put the cake ingredients into a large bowl and mix with an electric mixer or a wooden spoon until the mixture is smooth and evenly mixed.
Divide the mixture evenly between the paper cases.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the cakes are well risen and firm on top.

Transfer to a rack, let the cakes cool and decorate them with your favourite topping.
