Labrums, solicitors in St Albans,  is delighted to announce that it has won TWO gold awards in the inaugural Herts Digital Awards 2015.

The law firm was the only company out of the finalists to receive two gold awards – despite being in the same room as a number of companies specialising in digital media.

The event, held at the Holiday Inn in Stevenage, saw finalists go head to head in 14 categories.

Labrums, based just outside of St Albans centre, was

shortlisted for four categories including ‘responsive website’, ‘use of social media for business’, ‘blog’ and ‘website’ categories.

The judging panel consisted of industry professionals from Sky Sports, Universal Music Group, and Maserati.

In each category a bronze, silver and gold award were presented to the finalist that used online activity to help the company’s business improve.

Despite a room full of talented digital marketeers, Labrums scooped the top award in the ‘responsive website’ and ‘blog’ categories.

Michael Labrum, senior partner, said: “It’s overwhelming. We’re speechless. We were hopeful we would get some recognition but we never expected to take home two gold awards.

“It feels incredible to be recognised for the digital aspect of the business and it’s humbling to be in the same group as the rest of the finalists.

“Law firms can be seen as a fuddy old sector. Most solicitors aren’t even on twitter! But we recognised the importance of being visible to existing and potential customers by making the most of social media and digital technology.”

Labrums have been working with +24 Marketing, based north of Manchester, and their expertise has led to a fully responsive website, regular informative blogs and daily social media interaction and content by both +24 and staff at Labrums.

The judges praised the company’s weekly blogs and said the responsive website seamlessly transferred between computer, mobile and tablet.

Iain Johnson, founder of the Herts Digital Awards, said: “I’m delighted that we were able to celebrate Labrums’ achievement in this way.

“The perception is that the legal profession are living in a different age, and in some cases that might be true. But Labrums has demonstrated to our judges that they have taken a firm grasp of digital technology and used it to prove how they engage with their market and customers and the public at large.

“We never could have dreamed that the Herts Digital Awards would have taken of to the extent that it has.

“We are thrilled to have celebrated so many fantastic businesses in Hertfordshire and we are already planning to make it even bigger and better in 2016.”

Labrums would like to congratulate all the fellow finalists and winners of the awards – many of whom attended the Labrums Icebreaker at Knebworth House barns earlier that morning.
