Susana Diez

I am Head of the Spanish Department at Labrums and, a Specialist in International Inheritance Law. I have been a Registered European Lawyer with the Law Society since 1997 and qualified from Deusto University, Spain, in 1985. I am also a member of the Bilbao Bar.

During my post-graduate years, I worked as a solicitor and a tax adviser for small companies and private individuals in Spain. I then moved to England in 1990 and obtained a Diploma in International and Corporative Business Law from the London Metropolitan University, in 1994. I have worked with many solicitors in the UK and in Spain to conclude the estates of the English deceased with assets in Spain, as well as working closely with the Spanish Consulate in London.

For the last 22 years, I have worked in a number of high-profile law firms in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire and obtained a diploma in International Inheritance Law in 2014.

As a Spanish Lawyer (Abogado), I can assist with the following:
• Spanish conveyancing
• Powers of Attorney
• Spanish Wills and Inheritance (Probate)
• Affidavits of Spanish Law
• Spanish Company matters
• Spanish Taxes
• Spanish Litigation
• Advise on the implications of cross-border Anglo-Spanish legal issues
• Using terminology for lay people

I pride myself on being able to successfully help English people with the legal problems they face in Spain, in an amicable manner. Doing so, in a personalised way and using terminology that can be understood by my clients. Because of my background and experience, I am able to help clients deal with the differences between the English and the Spanish Legal systems.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and pets. In particular, I enjoy reading, politics, pilates and travelling. I am also a regular supporter of the charity PetSavers and in April 2015 took part in the PetSavers Charity Abseil down the roof of the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Birmingham.
