I am the Head of the Private Client Department here at Labrums and I have worked as a practising solicitor in this area of law in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire for over 15 years. I have developed expertise in drafting wills, estate planning, making and registering Lasting Powers of Attorney, estate administration and probate applications, Inheritance Tax, both the creation and the administration of trusts, and Court of Protection applications for Deputyships .
I also have a supporting knowledge of property ownership and care fees planning. I am an affiliate member of STEP, the global professional association for practitioners who specialise in family inheritance and succession planning. I am currently studying to become a full member, which is an internationally recognised badge of expertise in this area.
What I enjoy most about my role as a Private Client Solicitor is the chance to help solve problems for clients. It makes my work worthwhile if I know I have made life easier for my clients, whether by lessening their stress in hard times by explaining their options clearly in layman’s terms, taking the burden of their legal paperwork, saving them inheritance tax or assisting them in planning sensibly for the future. I am a “numbers” person and actually enjoying completing Inheritance Tax returns. Drafting wills is one of my main areas of work and I am pleased that this gives me the chance to meet a variety of people – no two will clients are ever the same!
I am passionate about improving the information available to those who care for the elderly or have elderly relatives who need help with legal matters, and have recently given talks in partnership with the Hospice of St Francis, Dementia Friends and Age Concern Dacorum. I have also raised money for the Hospice of St Francis in recent years by participating in their Make a Will Month scheme each year and by participating in their Midnight Walk, Bubble Rush and MudPack Challenge.
I live locally and in my home life I am kept busy looking after my family but I also enjoy catching up with friends, singing and performing in a choir and running in the local “parkruns” on a Saturday morning.
