Introducing Iain

Labrums has welcomed a new face to their ever-expanding team – Iain Wanstall.

Iain, who has over 19 years experience in law, will head up the later life, wills and probate team at the St Albans legal firm.

Iain, who lives in Wendover, South Bucks, plans to expand the customer base of the practice, visiting people in their own homes in the St Albans area and further afield.

He also plans to work with other professionals to

raise brand awareness, offer advice and build long-term relationships with potential future clients. He will also hold talks and seminars about the subject.

Iain studied Archaeology and Anthropology at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, prior to his first career as an Army Officer (The Gordon Highlanders). He retrained and qualified as a solicitor in 1996.

Since then, apart from almost a year as Head of Business Development in the City office of Capita Trust Company, he has worked in a number of high profile law firms in the Home Counties and the Thames Valley before joining Labrums in November 2015.

He said: “I have over 19 years’ experience in advising on private client law, mainly estate planning – including inheritance tax planning, wills and trusts; estate administration; advising on later life planning – such as lasting powers of attorney and asset protection; and Court of Protection matters.

He said: “My aim is to provide clients with solutions to their legal problems whilst offering personal, practical and pragmatic advice at what is often a very difficult time for them.

“I enjoy getting to know my clients and working closely with them. While working in the city, I missed visiting clients and seeing how I can help with their individual needs.

“My role is to advise and provide options to clients based on their circumstances and what they want to achieve. It’s not just to produce a document.”

Iain is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), which is a specialist professional association dealing with family inheritance and succession planning.

He also has a keen interest in working with charities and acted as trustee of a hospice for over four years and a bereavement listener. He recently took part in a charity skydive as part of the 2015 Remember a Charity campaign.

During his spare time he enjoys spending time with his wife and 4 children, hill walking, attending the gym, reading and travelling.
