Wills, Trusts and Probate

At Labrums we recognise how important Wills & Trusts are to protect what is rightfully ours and our families in this lifetime and beyond.

Our aim for every client, whatever your need is:

As a client of ours, you will experience:

  • the expertise to manage your case to its rightful conclusion
  • the right legal, administration and client care team to provide the service you prefer
  • the right costs that reflect the expertise and service agreed and nothing more

We have different strategies using your Will & Trusts to reduce your exposure to Inheritance Tax and to protect your property and savings from local authorities should you have to go into care.

You have worked hard to build your family wealth during your lifetime. When you are no longer here to protect it there are many ways in which your wealth can be lost.

If you want your assets to pass to the people you choose and not to the tax man, the local authority for care costs, creditors, divorce lawyers or spendthrift family members, we can help.

Recognising that making a Will and dealing with Probate is a sensitive matter, our Wills, Trusts & Probate team offer a unique and truly personal service, including:

  • FREE telephone advice with no obligation
  • FREE home visits to help think clearly about what is important and locate everything you need to get started.
  • FIXED FEES giving you peace of mind knowing what costs you can expect.

Wills

By making a Will you are not tempting fate. It is no different from taking out a life policy.

Everyone over 18 who owns land/buildings or other assets should consider making a Will.

Failure to do so may mean that your Estate does not pass to your intended beneficiaries and may make it far more costly and time consuming to administer.

Other services we offer include:

  • Powers of Attorney

Probate and Administration of Estates

It is always difficult when a loved one passes on. We appreciate the need for sympathetic and unobtrusive help at such times.

Probate can be hard work and sometimes confusing. When you consider that a simple Estate can take 6-9 months to complete, a more complex one 2-3 years, then it is good to know there is expert help available.

We aim to complete the various steps which have to be taken as quickly as is possible to:

  • find out whether the deceased left a Will and ensure that it is the latest version
  • trace all beneficiaries
  • determine how much is owed to and by the Estate and calculate any tax liability and probate fees payable
  • prepare the papers required to obtain the Grant of Probate, or Letters of Administration if no Will was left
  • collect all money due to the Estate before paying all liabilities and distributing the net proceeds to the intended beneficiaries
  • prepare detailed accounts of the administration of the Estate
